These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of RunRival ("the app", "we", "us"). By downloading or using RunRival, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

1. What RunRival is

RunRival is a running competition app for iOS. It reads your running workouts from Apple HealthKit and converts them into a score you can compare with friends inside shared leagues. It is not a medical device, a fitness tracker, or a training platform — it is a competitive game built on top of real running data.

2. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using the app, you confirm you are at least 13 years old and legally able to agree to these Terms. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has consented to your use of the app.

3. Your account

• RunRival creates an anonymous account automatically on first launch. You can optionally link it to Sign in with Apple to keep your progress across devices.
• You may only have one active account. Creating multiple accounts to gain a scoring advantage is not allowed.
• You are responsible for keeping your account secure. Do not share your league invite codes with people you don't trust.
• You can delete your account at any time from the Stats tab → Account → Delete my account. This permanently removes all your data.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Cheat. Do not inject, fabricate, or manipulate workout data. Do not use third-party apps or tools to create fake running workouts in Apple Health for the purpose of inflating your score. We flag manual entries and may remove suspicious workouts.
• Harass. Do not use the nudge feature or display name to harass, threaten, or abuse other users. Nudges are a light competitive mechanic — treat them that way.
• Abuse the service. Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, overload, or otherwise attack RunRival's infrastructure.
• Impersonate. Do not set a display name that impersonates another person.

We reserve the right to remove accounts that violate these rules.

5. HealthKit data

RunRival reads running workout data from Apple HealthKit with your explicit permission. We read only distance, duration, pace, and start time. We never write to your Health data. Revoking HealthKit access in iOS Settings will stop the app from syncing new runs; it will not delete data already synced to our servers.

6. Data and privacy

Your data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy is part of these Terms. By using RunRival, you also agree to the Privacy Policy.

7. Intellectual property

• RunRival, its name, logo, scoring system, and all app content are owned by the developer. All rights reserved.
• Your running data is yours. We process it to compute scores; we do not claim ownership over it.
• Your display name and profile photo are shared with other league participants as part of the competition experience.

8. Termination

You can stop using the app at any time and delete your account. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, without notice if necessary. If we shut down the service, we will provide reasonable advance notice.

9. No medical advice

RunRival is a game. It is not medical advice, a training plan, or a health monitoring tool. Do not use your RunRival score to make decisions about your health or fitness. Always consult a qualified professional before starting or changing an exercise routine.

10. Limitation of liability

RunRival is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app — including, without limitation, data loss, score discrepancies, or missed notifications. Our total liability to you will not exceed the amount you paid to use the app (which, as it is free, is zero).

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
